Award-Winning Corporate Consultant Nina Sonovia Brown Uses Neuroscience To Improve Human Performance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Sonovia.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I am Nina Sonovia Brown is an award-winning corporate wellness consultant and college psychology professor. I am certified in Heart Rate Variability for Stress Management and believe that resilience is a birthright, I use neuroscience tools to people decrease anxiety, improve their lives and make better decision. I am a published author of poems, short stories, and books on grief and loss. Growing up, I was exposed to multiple tragedies that shaped how I handled adversity- I didn’t!!! I went to college at the age of 16 with little emotional intelligence. When faced with stress, I buried my head and never acknowledged the toll it took on my ability to form healthy relationships. Those experiences birthed my passion for helping people heal from adversity and use neuroscience to improve performance and decision-making.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The challenges I overcame were understanding my past did not define me, but it did impact how I developed emotionally. I started by rewiring my thought processes by using cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and neurofeedback. These modalities helped me see (in real-time) how my thoughts influenced my behaviors, and with that understanding, I started to correct my behavior and build emotional intelligence.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

One of the things I love about my job is that it’s never dull. Every day brings something new with different results. So what do I do? On any given day, I might be on helping someone understand how emotions impact their relationships, sleep patterns, eating habits, or performance. Some days I spend time testing the neuroscience apps that will assist individuals with building resilience. Other days I am researching how to maximize human performance by understanding how the brain works. I love learning new things to help people better their lives through neuroscience.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My advice to the readers is this if you wish to find success based on your own goals and visions for your life, the first thing that you will need to do is create a strong vision for your life. While achieving big dreams may seem like a distant possibility, you will need to find success based on your own goals and visions for your life. Touch your dreams everyday and keep your dreams bigger than your daily activities. Do not put more time into a vision than the picture you have for your life.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is not just about making money. It is about being able to provide for yourself and your family. It’s about being able to give back to the communities in which you live, work, and play. Success is not just about making money. It’s about leaving a legacy that you can be proud of, one that will leave a positive impact on the world around you.

What’s next for you?

The next phase for me is to continue with my neuroscience and performance work. I also have an evidenced-based journal: The 1825 Journal to help people make better decisions. Writing without thinking or editing is the foundation of this journal. Using neuroscience, The 1825 Journal was created to help individuals improve decision-making. By completing this journal, the writer should have 1825 original thoughts that could help build resilience.
