Carlos Alberto Ramírez Rea is Chief Engineer, ISM Internal Auditor and Container Inspector. His professional studies were first completed at the Nautical School of Venezuela, where he received the title of Third Engineer in 1997, and then completed two postgraduate degrees at the Maritime University of the Caribbean; In 2003 he received the title of First Engineer and in 2008 he obtained the title of Chief Engineer M-4-00430.
Ramírez has an extensive work career. He has 22 years of experience on board large vessels: in 1998 he began his work as second and first Engineer at Consolidated Ferrys where he was for 5 years. From 2003 to 2018 he was at PDV Marina, holding the positions of First Engineer and Chief Engineer of Tankers; then from 2018 to 2019, he was Chief Engineer on General Cargo Vessels at Atlas Marine Group, Wartsila.
He also has 2 years and 10 months of experience as an External Machine Supervisor in a Shipyard. In this role, he has been responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of external machinists involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of ship machinery and equipment. Additionally, he has managed a team of outside machinists, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently and on schedule. Carlos is also responsible for coordinating with other departments, such as electrical, welding and structural, to ensure integrated completion of the project.
As an ISM Internal Auditor and Container Inspector, he plans and executes preventive maintenance of propulsion machinery. Proper priority planning ensures the safe and efficient operation of all machinery, thereby reducing unit downtime in accordance with the company’s safety policy and procedures established by national and international regulations.
Major maintenance of the main engine, as well as the auxiliary engines, is crucial to ensure the correct operation of the vessels. Ramírez, with nine years of experience as Chief Engineer on board oil tankers and general cargo vessels worldwide, is an expert in the field. With sixteen years of experience working with MAN B&W engines and the last two years with Wartsila engines, his knowledge and skills are second to none.
