Today we’d like to introduce you to OJ Jordan.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
It’s a long story, that began about 7 years ago when I was in my mid-30s. I was living in London at the time and I had a sense of urgency to change my life around. I was going through a divorce which left me feeling like a failure and I wasn’t happy with my career as a photographer, so there was this unsettling feeling that my life had crumbled and I was in dire need to turn things around, have a fresh new start, a new beginning of sorts.
So this is when I decided to take a 180 – a complete career and lifestyle change that led me to what I’m doing today.
At the time I had heard of Bitcoin and after selling a property I had some cash I needed to invest, but it wasn’t enough to invest in anything substantial like property for instance, so I took another glance at Bitcoin and (this is back in 2015) I finally took the risk and bought my first bitcoin for $420 to test the waters, so to speak. It took me quite a lot of research and sleepless nights to gain the knowledge and the courage to park my savings into this high-risk asset, but only a week later I had made 20% profit from this, which boosted my confidence to go heavily into crypto. It was my “go big or go home” approach to life that I applied and it worked for me.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
For a start I had to learn a lot of new skills and really dive into a whole new world. I was determined to make a living through building a passive income portfolio and the first couple of years were tough. We’re talking 16-hour days spent by the computer screen. Affiliate marketing, cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, reading charts, learning indicators and loads of other analytic tools… it’s a lot at first. But once you get the hang of it, things start moving, you start seeing results and results are the biggest motivator for me.
My biggest challenge was to overcome my insecurities and I had a lot when it comes to finance – as a creative, that was never my forte. It’s an entirely different world to the one I was inhabiting up to then and I had so much to learn.
I knew nothing about financial markets, economy, politics… and these are all very much involved in what I do right now. As an analyst of crypto markets I have to be on top of all the latest political and economic events that directly influence and affect these markets. It’s also why I do news commentary on my video show, along with analysis of various markets and crypto projects. I share my knowledge and experience with my followers and I’ve seen people make a killing with my help, which can be very rewarding.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
The big thing for me is “Time Freedom” – this is everything I strive for. And with crypto, this can be achieved very quickly – way faster than any other industry can offer, but it could also be very nerve-racking – it’s all about timing. Enter the market at the wrong time and you can get wiped out in no time. I’ve seen so many people jump into crypto during market peaks only to see their investment melt away over the next 6 months, they get scared, sell at big losses, we’re talking 70-80% losses, they get wiped out of the market and their savings are gone.
It doesn’t have to be this way. But it’s all about investing in the right coins and most importantly at the right time. Which is what I’ve learned the hard way and I have the experience and the mistakes from the past, that help me make the right choices now. I don’t run any schemes or handle other people’s portfolios though, I insist that people always be in charge of their own capital. I do help them navigate safely in this space, which is priceless.
This is why I was not affected by the Terra UST & LUNA crash in the Summer and most recently, the FTX collapse. I had no exposure to those.
I’m good at knowing when the time is right to jump into crypto and when to exit. This is usually the hardest part for a new investor.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Two things are going to determine your success. Three actually, and these are:
Consistency first (this is possibly the hardest one).
Anyone who is successful, is consistent in what they do. When I started my YouTube show I was posting every day for a whole year. Every single day for 365 days. I don’t do this anymore as I run my channel as a hobby now, it’s not a business for me. But when you start, whatever it is you do, you have to be prepared to give it ALL your attention, energy, physical and mental strength… everything.
Second is tenacity – sounds a little bit similar, but this is about perseverance. Early failures and mistakes can easily discourage you. You have to have the tenacity to go on, no matter the obstacles. You have to have conviction and strength to continue when you fall and you will be falling head over heels many times, it’s inevitable.
Third is having a clear and powerful “Why” – identify your main reason for doing whatever it is you do. What is driving you, what is that one thing that will make you get out of bed on days when you’re feeling down. And those days happen to all of us.
Yet, to be successful you have to able to overcome that, you have to be strong – mentally and physically too. The two are interlinked.
Strong body – strong mind, as they say…
So, having a powerful “Why” is paramount.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Time Freedom.
That’s all I strive for. You can earn more money, make new friends, you can do so many things in your life… You can replace pretty much anything and anyone in your life, but you can never get your time back.
Once gone, it’s never coming back. And you can never make more of it.
There’s only 24 hours in a day and that will not change, so you have to make changes, if you want to have more time.
It’s always been the main goal for me. Imagine how much more time you can spend with your kids if you didn’t have to be in the office every day. Or all the travelling you can do, or whatever else it is you’re striving for. This is why I built a passive portfolio, so I can have more time to spend on things I really like. I’ve been in 30 countries this year and I’m just embarking on a 6-month trip around Asia. It’s the thing I love the most. Exploring the blue planet we call home.
What’s next for you?
I’m actually cutting down my workflow little by little. As time goes by, I am no longer chasing clout and I produce content as a hobby nowadays, so my online presence is greatly reduced and that’s on purpose. I am working on my own course for crypto investors and I keep coaching clients privately, but I didn’t want my youtube channel or my blogs to take priority over my daily life, so unlike my competition, I am actually downsizing my workflow and treating it as hobby instead. It’s how I get to enjoy what I do and it never feels like work. It’s very important to do something that excites you, so it never feels like work.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
I am still on Facebook where I have my biggest following, also Youtube and Twitter. I try to be on all social platforms, but I’m not trying to impress anyone, so I don’t post too much and I never use click-bait, it’s the worst thing in my view. I’m so tired of click-bait headlines, you see these everywhere. Such a drag.
My website is “ojjordan.com” and I’m also the host of “crypto-corner.com” where you will find tons of my free crypto content, eBooks, courses and market analysis. I post all my videos there too.
