Sebastien Summerfield, a former Zimbabwe national team footballer turned Founder and Athlete, is on a mission to transform lives through the power of football. His remarkable journey from the pitch to philanthropy is a testament to resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to giving back to his community.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Sebastien’s passion for football was ignited at a young age. As a talented player, he represented his country at the Under 17 and Under 20 levels, showcasing his skill and dedication on the international stage. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, Sebastien’s love for the game remained unwavering, propelling him to pursue opportunities in Europe.

During his time playing football in Switzerland, England, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, Sebastien encountered firsthand the transformative power of the sport. Inspired by his own experiences and driven by a desire to make a difference, he founded the SRS Foundation Zimbabwe, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth, women, and disadvantaged individuals through football.

Through the SRS Foundation, Sebastien is making a tangible impact in high-density areas of Zimbabwe, providing much-needed support and resources to those in need. From donating kits and equipment to delivering drug awareness and life skills talks, Sebastien’s foundation is fostering a sense of community and hope among vulnerable populations.

One of Sebastien’s proudest achievements is being recognized as Sports Personality of the Year in 2023 by the Trend Setting Youth Awards. This prestigious accolade reflects his dedication to using sport as a vehicle for positive change and empowerment.

Despite his success, Sebastien remains humble and grounded, recognizing the ongoing challenges he faces. Gaining sponsorship and funding for his projects remains a constant struggle, but Sebastien remains undeterred in his mission to create lasting change.

Sebastien’s message of perseverance, hard work, and hope resonates deeply with those he seeks to uplift. He believes that “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” and encourages others to forge their own paths and never lose sight of their dreams.

Looking ahead, Sebastien envisions a future where Zimbabwe becomes a footballing hub, producing top talent that competes on the world stage. He dreams of leading the Zimbabwe International Football Association (ZIFA) and ultimately taking Zimbabwe to a World Cup. Additionally, Sebastien plans to build football pitches in high-density areas, providing opportunities for youth to channel their energy into positive outlets.

From hosting tournaments to conducting outreach programs, Sebastien’s dedication to his community knows no bounds. His vision for the future is one of empowerment, unity, and boundless potential, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

As Sebastien continues to make strides in his mission to transform Zimbabwean football and empower its youth, his story serves as an inspiration to us all.
