Today we’d like to introduce you to Fareed Rashad.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. By the time I was 12 i knew I had some artistic abilities like drawing and painting with water colors. Also at that time I started to have interest in barbering. My grandfather had a barbershop in west philly where I spent a lot of my time as a child. By the time I went to high school i was Painting murals and drawing characters out of comic books. After graduation went to barber school and got my barber license by 19. After awhile I added photography to showcase my hairstyle that I would then it turned into me doing portraits and weddings. and in the beginning a lot of it was self taught. Trial and error. Then I ventured into video and film and rest is history. Today I am published in a couple High Fashion Publications and have a few IMDB credits for movies and various music videos and other film projects. All while being a award winning barber/stylist.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

No it was not. Some of the challenges I encountered was the streets where i grew up. I sometimes got into trouble with the law as a teenager and young adult. Also my mother was not mentally stable, and she would go to the mental hospital from time to time. So I was raised by my aunt and there wasn’t much money to get some of the equipment that i needed to do some of the art along the way.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Today I love to do High fashion and portraits, Its artsy, colorful and rewarding to see your work in magazines. Really cool job. Also i been working on a documentary highlighting the barber world as it is today as oppose to what it was years ago. I still do hair from time to time. Because it was the start of a personal dynasty for me. I specialize in doing promo work stills and video. My eye for detail and perfection sets me apart and doing what it takes to reach that goal.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

For my industries and this can apply to most, is Patience. And believing in your capability to do whatever you dream of doing. Focusing and being patient is the key. Its knowing that you know.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

It means having a goal, living and finishing it.

What’s next for you?

Being a Designer. I’m working on a shoe line and also t-shirts and accessories. Then writing a book.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
