Some books begin with an idea. Others emerge from experiences their authors never expected to survive, let alone share publicly. For Michael Feehan, the story behind Seven Prayers belongs to the latter.
In 2019, Feehan found himself confronting a period of personal hardship that he describes as the lowest point of his life. He turned to prayer, beginning a spiritual journey that would occupy the next four years and eventually become the foundation of his first prayer book.
Now, seven years after that journey began, Seven Prayers has been released in digital and physical formats. The publication brings together seven prayers that Feehan believes were answered between 2019 and 2023, presented in the order those experiences unfolded.
For Feehan, the release is more than a publishing milestone. It represents the opportunity to share a chapter of his life that began when he could see little reason to believe his circumstances would improve.
Finding Faith in the Most Difficult Circumstances
Feehan describes the beginning of his journey as “praying out of the lowest hell.” It is an unusually stark description, but one that conveys the depth of the personal struggle behind his work.
During that period, prayer became part of his daily existence. He prayed day and night, searching for answers and holding onto the possibility that his circumstances could change.
There was no book planned at the beginning. His focus was on navigating the difficulties immediately in front of him.
As the years progressed, Feehan began to recognize what he considered answers to his prayers. By 2023, he believed all seven had been answered.
Those experiences eventually gave the project its structure. Rather than organize the book around general spiritual themes, he chose to document the prayers in their original sequence.
The result is a personal testimony shaped by the events he lived through, allowing readers to follow his understanding of how each prayer was answered.
Why Personal Testimony Matters
Spiritual literature often draws on scripture, theological interpretation, or established religious teachings. Feehan approaches the subject through his own experiences.
He describes Seven Prayers as a lived, prayed, and answered prayer book. The emphasis on lived experience is deliberate. His account is grounded in what he believes happened in response to his prayers, rather than an attempt to offer a universal formula for overcoming hardship.
“Anyone can pray, and at one point everyone in their life will pray. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have,” Feehan says.
His conviction is personal, but the circumstances that inspired it are recognizable. People facing financial uncertainty, broken relationships, loss, or emotional distress often search for ways to make sense of what they are experiencing.
Feehan hopes his account offers encouragement to those navigating their own difficult chapters.
Taking the Story Into a Wider World
The development of Seven Prayers has extended into media, entertainment, and professional sports.
Feehan highlights a feature in Polo De Marco magazine alongside Michael Franzese, sponsorship involvement with former NBA player Delonte West through BrandRisk Miami, and heavyweight boxer Paul Gallen.
He also identifies music producer Scott Storch as part of an effort to create a soundtrack associated with Seven Prayers.
These connections reflect his interest in introducing the project to audiences beyond traditional readers of faith literature.
Yet the central narrative remains unchanged. The book’s significance to Feehan comes from the personal experiences that preceded its publication.
A New Chapter After Seven Years
With Seven Prayers now available for purchase, Feehan is entering a different stage of the journey.
The years spent praying, reflecting, and preparing the manuscript have given way to the challenge of sharing his story with others.
He cannot determine how every reader will interpret his experiences. Some may connect with the spiritual message, while others may recognize the determination required to endure a prolonged period of uncertainty.
What Feehan can offer is his account of moving through hardship with faith as a constant.
Seven years after his journey began, the prayers that once belonged to a private struggle are now part of a story he is ready to share.
