NEW MEXICAN AMERICAN RAPPER EXPLAINS THE CHALLENGES OF LIVING IN A BORDER TOWN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prolifek.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

What’s up? I been rapping since high school, started taking music serious in 2019. I decided to lose weight & polish my image. I lost over 100 lbs in a year time frame just being dedicated. I been dropping & releasing new music every month as well. Dedication is a big part of my life. Once I make my mind up I fully commit to whatever it is I’m doing. I don’t like to give up so I always push myself to finish what I started. Right now I’m working on an album titled “4 Da Raza”, where I being Mexican-American wanted to do something that relates to the people sharing my heritage. On this I feature some of the biggest Mexican names in American Hip-Hop. The album is set to release this winter of 2021. It will be my biggest project up to date, which I will follow up with something greater. I expect all my fans & supporters to embrace this project like any project from Future, Drake or Lil Baby. It will be the biggest project to come out of my region in the Texas/Mexico border. Being where I’m from (McAllen, Tx) it’s very hard & almost unbelievable to imagine someone like me successful in today’s music industry. However I will be the exception to show my raza (people) that it is highly possible to do anything you set your mind to.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Like I said where I’m from we aren’t expected to participate much less succeed in an American music industry but I still push and create content in order to be seen & expand my following. I am 20 minutes from Mexico and 5 hours south of Houston. To go & come you have to go through a checkpoint which segregates use from the rest of the US. I feel that’s a big challenge I have been having to overcome by traveling more. Most people have never heard of our region yet we are huge and an important factor to the country. I feel this is the biggest challenge for me. Most cities have had a breakout artist or some sort of entertainer from athletes to movie stars. When you have that you have a sense of believing in those chasing their dreams. Not down here. People tend to crush others verbally and show the opposite of support for one another. It’s a weird state of mind, but I don’t trip I know by prevailing I will be able to be the example our people needed.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m a very versatile artist. I blend English with Spanish all the time from just rhymes to whole sentences. I also do rap, hip hop & r&b. Lately I’ve been tapping into punk/rock genres & loving the creation process of it. I just love music & I feel like my style & voice lets me adapt to any beat or sound.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Never give up. I’m still searching for the success I desire but along the way I’ve learned that the more and longer you go the more results you get. Never quit.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me means living out your dreams while taking care of everyone who once took care of you & then some… I don’t think it’s a line you cross that determines it, but more of a mentality along with lifestyle that really defines it.

What’s next for you?

4 DA RAZA. This is the project I been working on for the past year. I will push this for as long as I can while still working & creating new music / content. Next I will become a platinum recording artist.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
