Skincare expert Folasade Omotoyinbo shares essential steps for an effective skincare routine

Today we’d like to introduce you Poshglow CEO – Folasade Omotoyinbo

Q: Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in the skincare industry?
A: Sure! Prior to starting my skincare business, I worked in the broadcasting service of Ekiti State for 10 years before relocating to London. I’ve always had a passion for skincare and beauty, and I started experimenting with making my own skincare products at home. I saw that there was a need for effective and affordable organic skincare products, so I decided to turn my passion into a business and started Poshglowskincare in 2017.

Q: What sets Poshglowskincare apart from other skincare brands?
A: At Poshglowskincare, we are committed to using only natural and organic ingredients in our products. We believe that what you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body, so we make sure that our products are free from harmful chemicals and preservatives. Our products are also certified and tested for their effectiveness, so our customers can trust that they’re getting the best possible results.

Q: Can you share some tips for an effective skincare routine?
A: Absolutely! There is no one “best” skincare routine that suits everyone since everyone’s skin is unique and may have different needs. However, there are some general steps that can be followed for an effective skincare routine. Here are four essential steps that you can include in your daily skincare routine:
Cleansing: This step involves using a cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and impurities from your skin. You should choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type, whether it’s dry, oily, or sensitive. It’s recommended to cleanse your face twice a day, in the morning and at night.
Toning: This step involves using a toner to balance your skin’s pH and prepare it for the next steps in your skincare routine. Toners can also help to tighten and refine your pores. You should choose a toner that suits your skin type, and it’s best to apply it with a cotton pad.
Moisturizing: This step involves using a moisturizer to hydrate your skin and prevent dryness. You should choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type and apply it after cleansing and toning. It’s recommended to use a moisturizer with SPF during the day to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Sun protection: This step involves using sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. You should choose a sunscreen with a high SPF and apply it generously to your face, neck, and any other exposed areas. It’s recommended to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you’re spending time outdoors.

Q: What are some common skincare mistakes that people make?
A: One common mistake that people make is not moisturizing enough, especially if they have oily skin. They may think that skipping moisturizer will prevent their skin from becoming too oily, but actually, it can cause their skin to produce even more oil to compensate for the lack of hydration. Another mistake is not wearing sunscreen every day, even when it’s cloudy or they’re staying indoors. UV rays can still penetrate through clouds and windows, so it’s important to protect your skin from them.

Q: What advice do you have for skincare lovers?
A: My advice would be to listen to your skin and pay attention to its needs. Everyone’s skin is unique and may have different needs, so it’s important to use products that work for your specific skin type and concerns. Also, consistency is key when it comes to skincare. You may not see results overnight, but if you stick to a regular skincare routine, you’ll get just that result you are looking for.
