Striving Despite All Circumstances

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Boudreaux.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I am Justin, owner and CEO of GRIND. LLC. I was raised right outside of Baton Rouge, LA in a small town called Baker. In college, I attended a lecture series, the keynote speaker was Talib Kweli. It opened my mind, and that moment sparked a vision. In 2011 I filed my papers and opened GRIND.; a Streetwear and Sports apparel brand. My mission is to create apparel that expresses on the outside, how I want people to feel on the inside. A physical reminder of their inner light, their purpose, and their worth.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

In 2017, I lost my mother to a cancer. It was an unexpected blow that no one is ever prepared to face. One year after that, on the anniversary of my mother’s death, one of my closest friends got life in jail. In 2019, I restructured my company, reinforcing its vision. “GRIND. STRIVING DESPITE ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.”

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I created GRIND. with the mission to promote hardworking people in every aspect of life. My vision has evolved beyond highlighting “work”. My company creates apparel with messaging about overcoming adversity and helping people discover their inner light. I am strategic in not only our messaging, but also in the details of the apparel and the fabrics. It is important to me that all of my products are high quality and low maintenance. I create the type of clothes that you can just throw on, and you are instantly drippy. It is my goal to create those “Go To” wardrobe pieces.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best advice is to look within yourself before seeking what is outside of you. “Who am I?”, ask yourself this question often and answer it often. “I AM” is one of the most powerful affirmations. God is In you. If you tap into that then success is inevitable. And of course, GRIND. STRIVE DESPITE ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

I know that success looks differently for everyone. Success to me is showing my family and my community that any and everything is attainable. I want to be a vessel that helps to propel them in a positive direction. That is why I created a Louisiana Inspired Collection. All of the proceeds from the sales of this collection will go to the Victims of Hurricane Ida and the underprivileged youth of Louisiana. To have the capacity to do this is success to me.

What’s next for you?

GRIND. 2021 Fall Collection is dropping real soon. I am very excited to get back on the runway. We have a few fashion shows coming up that I am really excited about. Of course, I’ll be doing more giving in my community in the upcoming months as well. I don’t want to talk too much, but turn your notifications on!
