About National Nurses Week
National Nurses Week is celebrated between May 6, National Nurses Day, and May 12, the birthdate of celebrated nurse Florence Nightingale who is credited with the advent of modern nursing. First established in 1954 to mark the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s pioneering work in Crimea, it is today a week in which to recognize and thank nurses for their invaluable contributions to our health.
